In honor of our beloved Bill Spenceley, we are turning our heartbreak into action. Bill was a gentle, compassionate man who spent his life caring for others and finding peace in the Arcata Community Forest. Following the attack that ultimately took him from us, our family wants to help prevent another family from experiencing this kind of loss.

Funds raised will help us hire a lobbyist and advocate for meaningful legislative change in Bill’s name, with a focus on public safety, accountability surrounding the pretrial release of individuals accused of violent offenses, and the complex role of mental illness.

We hope Bill Spenceley’s legacy can become more than the tragedy that ended his life. We want his name to stand for compassion, change, and a safer future for others.
