My brother, Michael Barrera, was killed by officers of the Woodland Police Dept on February 8th. This is a very shocking tradegey for many. He was a son, brother, father, a fiancé and a friend to many. He leaves behind his daughter Michelle, who he adored, and he also has a baby girl on the way.
While we are all devastated by this... The way this case has been handled is unacceptable. Officers from Woodland PD have lied to us multiple times regarding my brothers death, how it happened, where it happened, why it happened and soo much more.
In just over 24 hours there were 5 versions of the story surrounding my brothers death. 2, right to our face from WPD and then 3 different versions from the media w the source being Woodland PD.
I have documented and recorded every interaction and based on evidence, we as a family, believe this is another case of cop brutality and my brothers death was NOT warranted.
We have not been able to identity him, yet they released his name and besides lying to us and the public, they have taken a life and they are trying to cover up for their wrongdoings.
My brother deservies justice and we won't be quiet. This is NOT the first time WPD has murdered our men and gotten away with it. We won't stay quiet.
