We still don’t know what happened to Ar Bu

On October 31, 2025, our beloved dog Ar Bu went missing while staying at a dog care facility in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. What should have been a safe place for him turned into a devastating loss for our family — and to this day, Ar Bu has never been found.

When the incident happened, we were travelling overseas and had entrusted Ar Bu to professional boarding care, believing he would be safe. After being notified, we immediately cancelled the remainder of our trips and returned to Calgary as soon as possible to search for him.

Despite extensive searches, community support, and ongoing outreach efforts, there has been no confirmed sighting of Ar Bu since that day. Living with the uncertainty of what happened to him has been incredibly painful.

We are seeking accountability and answers for what happened to Ar Bu — not only for our family, but in the hope that no other pet owners will experience the same heartbreak.

Campaign Update

We are continuing to pursue legal action related to Ar Bu’s disappearance. However, due to financial constraints and the unpredictable cost of legal representation, we have made the difficult decision to proceed primarily through self-representation, while seeking professional legal advice when necessary.

Because of this change, we are updating the purpose of this fundraising campaign to ensure full transparency.

Our fundraising goal has been adjusted from $30,000 to $15,000 to reflect this revised legal approach.

Our current legal-related expenses are approximately $7,500–$10,000, and updated receipts will be shared as they become available. Supporting documents will be shared at the post on Facebook page: Find Ar Bu.

Updated Use of Funds

Funds raised through this campaign will support past, current, and future legal-related expenses, including but not limited to:

-Legal consultations and professional advice

-Court filing fees and administrative costs

-Document preparation and court materials

-Translation and interpretation services

-Evidence preparation and related expenses

-Other reasonable costs directly connected to pursuing legal accountability

Legal expenses may arise at different stages of the process and may remain unpredictable.

Handling of Any Remaining Funds

If compensation awarded through legal proceedings covers legal expenses, or if funds remain after all legal-related costs are paid, remaining funds may be:

-refunded where appropriate, or

-donated to organizations that support lost and abandoned animals,

with proof provided for transparency.

As the campaign purpose has been updated, we want to respect the intentions of everyone who has already supported us.

We will contact donors individually through GoFundMe messages where possible to offer the option to:

-consent to the updated use of funds, or

-request a full refund.
