Justice For Amir Johnson

My name is Natasha my cousin was brutally and fatally killed by Ventnor and Atlantic Police Department on August 06,2020 . My cousin Amir Johnson had went with his friends to Atlantic City to get his mind off the resent passing of his fiance. With his time spent in Atlantic City my cousin  departed from his friends wanting to mourn the death of his fiance by himself. Amir was found walking in the marsh area near the road. People in the area stated in a news article they was "concerned for his safety because he was acting erratic" so they proceeded to call the police. Unfortunately calling for help for someone to get aid ended my cousins life. The Ventnor and Atlantic City Police Department felt the best thing to do to help my cousin was to have 3 or more officers shoot him multiple times due to them feeling threaten by a bottle he was carrying. There was a number of things they could have done than to fatally shoot my cousin. All he needed was medical attention to deal with what he was going through not death. The police did not contact us until 4 days later after his death. When they contact us they stated "he was in a accident and due to that accident he became deceased within that accident." They refuse to tell us How, Why, When or Who. We had to look for answers and search the web to find out what we could. This case has been quiet with no answers for us. They refuse to let us see the video footage of the tape until the end of this month. We are reaching out to the community to help us find answers to this crime committed against my cousin from officers who was suppose to serve and protect him but instead murdered him. Amir has children and a family that love him he left behind. The funds will be used on lawyer fees, court fees, support of his children, transportation due to family members living in different states, medical expenses for mental health with dealing with the brutality of his death. Amir's burial had to be paid for by his sister which put financial pressure on her, because of his sudden death no one was able to assist her. Both parents are sick. The death of my cousin caused my uncle to go into a seizure after his stroke. It is so many things my family is going through and need the public help.
