Cleared of Rape and Still a Poriah in his Hometown 

As noted in the article, Keith Findley, a co-director at Wisconsin Project Innocence, “Defendants who are totally innocent can still be convicted of ancillary charges like jumping bail and violating probation. The consequences—social ostracism, job loss, public housing denial—are virtually infinite.”

Currently Alex faces FOUR hurdles:
1. Clearing the ancillary charges that resulted from him being falsely accused and imprisoned. Alex needs legal representation to do this. You can also write Benjamin Webster, ADA, and explain how these charges not being expunged are a social injustice.

2. Completing his GED. Alex was forced to drop out of high school. He would like to get his GED and learn a trade that allows him pride of work as well as personal achievement.
3. Getting a driver’s license. Alex depends on family to transport him to/from therapy, work, etc. He successfully has arranged accommodations for testing (he’s autistic) but would benefit from in person instruction. Family has got him a car so he’s eager to help independently get to where he needs to go. (A big deal to a teen!)
4. Getting legal counsel to help him navigate getting justice as a victim for the time he was falsely imprisoned. Sierrah faces misdemeanor charges. There’s been no disciplinary action for Bobby Jo Mallery, the social worker and mandated reporter, who told Sierrah and her grandmother to “let it lie”. The only person to face any consequence has been Alex.
