Hey. I’m Heather Weaver, the mother of Jaliyah Tayanna Butler. On October 4, 2025, my world changed forever when Jaliyah was tragically killed at SC State. She was out having fun with her sisters and friends when someone made the devastating decision to take her life away. Losing Jaliyah has left a hole in my heart that can never be filled, and every day since has been a struggle to find a way forward.
Because of this tragedy, I have been unable to work and have fallen behind on my bills. I am also seeking an attorney to help get justice for my daughter, which has added to the financial strain. The support from this fundraiser will help me cover essential bills and legal expenses during this incredibly difficult time.
I am reaching out to my community for help. Any support you can give—whether it’s a donation or simply sharing my story—means the world to me. Thank you to everyone who can help, and thank you to those who keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Your kindness and support give me hope as I fight for justice for Jaliyah.
