In Loving Memory of William Denard Askew (“Little”) — Help Us Lay Him to Rest and Seek Justice
On July 25, 2025, our family suffered an unimaginable tragedy. William Denard Askew, affectionately known as “Little,” was senselessly shot and killed in Laurel, Maryland, at just 33 years old.
William was a beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, and friend — but more than anything, he was the heart of our family. He had a kind spirit, an infectious smile, a playful sense of humor, and an unmatched love for those closest to him. Family meant everything to him. Whether he was cheering for his favorite football team, spending time with his three nephews, or simply being present, William made every moment feel special.
His loss has left a hole in our hearts that can never be filled. His mother is completely devastated — overwhelmed with grief and unable to face the burden of laying her son to rest alone. As her sister and William’s aunt, I’m organizing this fundraiser on her behalf to help give Little the proper burial and memorial he deserves.
We are reaching out to our community and beyond to ask for support during this heartbreaking time. Whether it’s a donation, a share, or a prayer — every single gesture matters.
