My name is Ashley Barnett. My sister Lawanda McGee was found dead in her apartment on January 21st. Lawanda’s family is asking for help for cremation and memorial services. Lawanda Didn’t have any life insurance and she leaves behind a 13 year old daughter named Maliyah Hunt. We are asking for help from family, friends, and her community. Proceeds will go towards memorial services and her daughter.

Her Story;

Lawanda was just starting to get ahead of life when she passed away. She recently graduated from nursing school but all her dreams came to an end December 15th.

On February 2nd Terrence Christopher Smith was arrested for abandoning a corpse (My sister Lawanda McGee). Terrence stayed with my sister as a room mate for a couple of years. My sister Lawanda died on or around December 15th. Lawanda’s last known citing and social media post was December 15th. She posted regularly up until then. Lawanda’s body was not discovered until January 21st. Terrence proceeded to continue to live with her while she was deceased and decomposing for 38 days. He left her on a couch rotting and layered her in multiple blankets to try and hide and cover up the smell. He opened the patio and bedroom windows so air could circulate in and out. There’s footage that has not been quote on quote verified, of him tampering with the body. He went in and out of the apartment that entire time not notifying any one of her death. There was no sign of physical trauma to the body so the coroner and detectives are waiting for the toxicology report to come in to see if he gave her something.
