Hello, my name is Tracy Blackmon, I am Daniel Summers cousin,
For 18 years, Daniel Summers has been working every day to become a better man than the one he was in his youth. He is currently serving a 30‑year sentence for a gunshot incident in which — thankfully — no life was lost and no one else was injured. Since the day he entered the system, Daniel made a promise to himself and to his family that he would grow, learn, and change. He has kept that promise.
During his incarceration, Daniel has stayed out of trouble, earned multiple educational degrees, and built a reputation for being respectful, responsible, and deeply committed to self‑improvement. Those who know him describe him as a family‑oriented man with a big heart — someone who values loyalty, connection, and doing right by his family and everyone around him.
Today, Daniel’s family is fighting for the chance to bring him home. His mother is in failing health and he wants to be near her to support her, and be present for his family is the driving force behind this campaign.
Unfortunately, Daniel has never had access to proper legal representation beyond a court‑appointed attorney. We believe he deserves a fair opportunity — one strong legal defense, one real chance to be heard. We are raising funds to hire a qualified attorney who can pursue a retrial and advocate for the second chance Daniel has worked so hard to earn.
Every donation, no matter the amount, brings us closer to giving Daniel the opportunity to reunite with his family and continue his life outside prison walls. If you cannot donate, sharing this campaign is just as meaningful.
Thank you for taking the time to read Daniel’s story and for standing with us as we fight for justice, hope, and a second chance.
