I have read statements like this many times over the years and always prayed I would never have to write one myself. Tragically, on Thursday evening, January 15, our family suffered an unimaginable loss. My seven-year-old nephew, Oliver, passed away.
The circumstances surrounding Oliver’s death are currently under investigation, and there are still many unanswered questions. What we do know is that Oliver was in the care of his mother at the time of his passing. When first responders, including medics and law enforcement, arrived at the scene, they observed the presence of drug-related items in her home.
The autopsy has now been completed. While many of the examination results may take months to be finalized, shortly after the autopsy was completed, Oliver’s mother was detained by police. The investigation remains ongoing, and the official cause of death has not yet been released.
In addition to the official investigation, the funds raised will be used to help cover funeral and burial expenses, as well as to pursue independent medical examinations and specialized testing that go beyond the standard autopsy. Our hope is that these efforts will help provide clarity and answers—answers that may bring our family some measure of peace and help ensure accountability and justice for our sweet little boy.
Oliver was an extraordinary child—bright, curious, and incredibly kind. He was thoughtful, funny, and full of life, with a future full of promise. His loss has left our family devastated by grief, heartbreak, and profound sadness.
Oliver is survived by his loving father, Christopher Morrison, who loved his boys more than life itself and would do anything for them; his older brother and best friend, Asher Morrison; his grandmother, Kirsten Madsen; his grandparents, Darren and Carol MacDonald; his aunt and uncle, Paul and Katie Foster; and his cousin, Hunter Foster. He will also be deeply missed by his uncle, Ricky Blomgren; his aunt, Alicia Grisha; his little cousin, Raven Grisham; his great-grandmother, Joy Oldham; and many others who loved him dearly.
During this unimaginably difficult time, we humbly ask for your support. Any contribution to help Christopher and Asher—both in their healing and as they seek answers surrounding Oliver’s passing—would mean the world to our family. No child deserves this, and no family should ever have to endure such a loss.
