Thank you, friends and family, for continuing to share HER-STORY. Aaliyah is staying strong as she heals from the devastating, racially motivated attack she suffered while incarcerated at Chittenden County Correctional Facility. Despite visible scars and ongoing medical neglect, her spirit remains unshaken. We need $309, to reach the milestone of raising $1000. Don’t forget about Aaliyah. She could be anyone’s daughter. Give and share today.
She is a 23-year-old young mother, and she deserves justice, dignity, and proper care. Her fight is not only for herself but for all Black women facing injustice behind prison walls.
Our total goal remains $25,000 — to support her recovery, legal fight, and long-term healing.
Every share, every donation, and every prayer matters.

UPDATE: The University of Vermont Medical Center is denying Aaliyah Destiny Johnson direct access to her own medical records, claiming she has no rights as an inmate.
This is false, illegal, and a violation of HIPAA and basic human rights.
Aaliyah is a 23-year-old Black mother who was attacked with boiling water in a Vermont prison. Her face and neck are scarred, she’s been denied medication, and now she’s being denied even the truth about her own body.
This weekend, we’re pushing hard to raise $25,000 for advocacy, legal help, and healing.

JUSTICE AND HEALING FOR AALIYAH DESTINY JOHNSON
We are raising funds for Aaliyah Destiny Johnson, a vibrant young Black daughter, mom, sister, niece, and friend, who recently suffered a brutal racially motivated assault while incarcerated at the Chittenden Regional for Women in South Burlington, Vermont.
On 07/18/2025, Aaliyah was viciously attacked by another inmate who threw a pot of boiling water directly on her face. This was not a random act - it was racially motivated, and staff were aware of escalating tensions beforehand. Aaliyah's skin peeled off in layers. She screamed for help. No one came.
EVEN MORE DEVASTATING:
Staff failed to intervene or protect her
There was no immediate or adequate medical care
She continues to suffer Both physically and emotionally
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP:
We believe this is not just an act of violence - it's a civil rights violation rooted in rooted in institutional neglect and systemic racism.
Aaliyah has a long road ahead. She deserves healing, dignity, and justice.
RAISING FUNDS TO COVER:
Emergency burn care and long-term medical treatment
Plastic surgery and emotional trauma therapy
Civil rights legal action against the state of Vermont
Advocacy and awareness so this never happens again
WHO WE ARE:
I am Ebony Kirkland, Aaliyah's aunt and advocate. Our family is devastated. We were never ready to receive a call saying our loved one had been severely burned because of the color of her skin - and worse, that those entrusted to protect her did nothing.
STAND WITH AALIYAH:
This is not just about one woman. It is about the invisible violence many incarcerated Black women endure every day. We're fighting to make sure her pain is seen, her voice is heard, and her life is not reduced to a footnote. Please give what you can. If you can't donate, share this campaign and spread her story. Aaliyah's life matters. Her pain matters. And her fight for justice has just begun.
