Justice and Dignity for Rashawn Roberts

On March 12, 2025, our family suffered an unimaginable loss when my brother, Rashawn Roberts, was tragically killed in a pedestrian incident in St. Cloud, Florida. This devastating event has left an indescribable void in our lives.

Remembering Rashawn

Born on May 13, 1994, in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, Rashawn was a man of creativity and depth. His artistic talents and witty nature brought joy to those around him. A culinary enthusiast, he relished exploring diverse cuisines, from traditional Caribbean dishes to international flavors. Recently, Rashawn embraced his faith, dedicating his life to Christ and seeking deeper connections within his community.

A Call for Safer Streets and Communities

Rashawn's passing underscores a critical public safety issue. The location of the incident allegedly lacked essential pedestrian infrastructure, such as marked crosswalks and sidewalks. Alarmingly, this was the second pedestrian fatality on the same stretch of road within a week. Our family is committed to advocating for improved pedestrian safety measures to prevent such tragedies in the future. The lives of Rashawn and other victims of pedestrian accidents do not deserve to not be honored with reform.

This pain is especially heavy for our mother, a longtime school nurse for the Osceola School District—the very district where Rashawn lost his life. She has spent years caring for others’ children, and now she is faced with laying her own son to rest.
