My name is Kzonic Martin and maiden last name Calhoun. I am the surviving daughter of an elderly disabled U.S. veteran named Marvin Lee Calhoun who tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run accident in Tallahassee, Florida on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 6:55pm.
My father proudly served his country, but like many veterans who return home with disabilities and limited support, he struggled later in life and found himself experiencing homelessness. Despite the hardships he faced, he carried the pride of his military service and continued to live with resilience and dignity.
On the evening of March 5th, while walking as a pedestrian, my father was struck and killed by a driver who fled the scene and left him behind. In a single moment, our family lost a father, a veteran, and a man who deserved compassion and justice.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - The Tallahassee Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a car suspected in a Thursday night hit and run. The incident left a pedestrian seriously injured who later died on Thursday evening, according to TPD.
TPD is circulating this photo in hopes of locating this vehicle and its operator, which was allegedly involved in a hit and run accident with a pedestrian. (Tallahassee Police Department) Photo of the vehicle can be seen online or social media surrounding this case of what appears to be a newer model four door dark or black colored BMW.
Because my father was living without financial resources and did not have a life insurance policy, our family is now facing the unexpected burden of funeral and memorial expenses. I am reaching out with humility and hope, asking for help so that my father can be laid to rest with the dignity and honor that a veteran deserves.
Funds raised through this campaign will help cover funeral and burial costs and may also allow us to establish a cash reward for any information that could help law enforcement solve the ongoing hit-and-run investigation. Additionally, these funds could help me obtain legal representation to pursue a wrongful death case so that accountability and justice can be sought for my father.
The states medical examiner has completed the autopsy and now ready for me to transport him to a funeral home, but unfortunately, I don't have the financial means to arrange a funeral home provider to assist me with this process which needs immediate attention.
Any support you are able to give—whether through a donation or simply sharing this page—means more to our family than words can express. My father served his country with honor, and now I am simply trying to ensure that his life, his service, and his memory are respected.
Thank you for your compassion, prayers, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
