Dear Family and Friends of Corey M. Gordon,
My mother and I have been going through an incredibly difficult time following Corey’s passing a few weeks ago. Like many of you, we have been searching for answers. After speaking with the police and medical examiners, it appears that from their perspective, Corey experienced an accidental overdose. However, this cannot be officially confirmed until the toxicology results are returned in approximately 90 days. Currently, the official status of his death remains undetermined.
Based on our recent trip to Phoenix, conversations with his friends, and the unusual circumstances reported by the Phoenix PD, my mother, my wife, and I—along with Corey’s roommate and friends—strongly believe that Corey was murdered. The Phoenix Police Department has indicated they will not further investigate cases categorized as drug overdoses, even when the circumstances are inconsistent with the victim's known behavior. Despite missing personal items like his cellphone, debit cards, and shoes, and even after we uncovered a potential motive related to his crypto accounts, the police have declined to interview those involved.
The only way to change his case status from 'undetermined' to 'suspicious' or 'homicide' is to hire a private investigator. We have retained an investigator named Kurt Strackaluse in Phoenix, who also believes Corey was murdered and can push for the investigation we need. We are asking for donations to help fund this private investigation and to assist with the costs of bringing Corey home to his final resting place after his cremation tomorrow.
If you have the means to donate, any amount is deeply appreciated. Closure often comes with a high price, but it is the only way Kathy and I will be able to find the answers we need regarding Corey’s death. Thank you for your support.
