My name is Thomas Tyger Moore and I was wrongly arrested and imprisoned for over a week for a crime that I did not commit.
This has been a nightmare that I have slowly been waking up from. I have never committed a crime in my life, have a completely clean record and am a law abiding citizen, which has meant nothing.
Imagine being in your home, on the phone, getting ready for work and then, all of sudden, the carpet is pulled from under you as three marshals are forcibly putting you in cuffs all while you're waiting for gravity to bring you back to reality.
But the reality is that being a black man in America is already a crime. This system has failed me, because this system was not designed for someone that looks like me.
This process and system has been far from just, it has felt like I've been classified as GUILTY until proven INNOCENT; a process that has added so much insult to injury. Even with alibis, testimonies and proof, I still have to go through the legal court process to clear my name.
Dealing with PTSD after being in jail -THROUGH MY BIRTHDAY- I have DAILY triggers that transport me back into those steel and concrete walls and reminded of a corrupt system every time I close me eyes.
I have to still go through the legal court process despite having alibis and proof of my innocence. The scars of this experience reopen as I see my family struggle to exhaust funds to prove my INNOCENCE.
I come from humble beginnings. I am a first generation college graduate and worked two jobs and maintained Dean's List GPA for scholarships to pay my way through school. I don't come from money. I don't ask for help. I get it done. That's how I've been raised. You make a way out of no way. But now, I am humbly asking for help. I need YOUR help. I need your help in sharing my story and I need help to offset these legal costs.
My court date is this month and we need help NOW to pay for legal representation.
Your DONATION will go towards my bail amount $22,500, quoted attorney fees at $4,000 and transportation commuting back and forth from New York to DC.
Although this has happened to ME, unfortunately, this is not ONLY my story. There are many people who have been wrongly arrested and detained who are innocent. THIS WILL NOT STAND and we have to make a stand against this injustice!
