Joey was a 12-year-old Chihuahua who brought light and hope into my life during my darkest times. I adopted him when he was less than a year old, and from that moment, he became my constant companion and best friend. Joey had a joyful spirit—he would sit up for treats and even learned to say “I love you.” One of my most cherished memories is the night he greeted me at the door, calling out “I love you, Randy” as I came home, a moment I was lucky enough to capture on video. His love and loyalty helped me through deep depression, and he truly was my whole world.

Recently, I took Joey to Club Hill Animal Clinic in Garland for a routine nail trim. What should have been a simple visit turned into a nightmare. The staff cut his nails far too short, causing him pain and bleeding. When Joey tried to escape the pain, they forcibly restrained him by his throat, crushing his trachea and breaking his neck. After 45 minutes, they returned him to me lifeless, wrapped in a blanket. My grief is overwhelming, and I am devastated by the loss of my beloved companion.

I have filed a criminal complaint, but the case was closed without charges. I am now working with the Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, hoping for a full investigation. I want to hire a lawyer to pursue a civil suit against the clinic for the suffering Joey and I endured, and to push for changes in animal protection laws so pets are recognized as family, not just property. The funds raised will go toward legal fees, advocacy efforts, and seeking justice for Joey and other animals who have suffered. My goal is to hold this clinic accountable and prevent future tragedies.
