Justice 4 Damien

My name is Monica Lee. On July 27th, 2021, my 29-year-old son Damien Cameron lost

his life due to a wrongful, unlawful, and violent death. Over an 8-month span in 2021, 5 men were

killed by the Rankin County Sheriff's Department, including Damien. After the officer beat him to

death, he still put him in the police car, knowing his condition. The police opened the door to

“check on him” and felt no pulse. Not only was Damien’s skull cracked open, but he was also put

on LIFE SUPPORT before ever leaving the scene. WHY was Damien not sent straight to a

trauma unit? The same officer escorted my son to Simpson County, a smaller county,

where they could not help him. Simpson General knew his life-threatening chronic injuries

were too severe and recommended UMMC. This same policeman searched my house without a

warrant, tased him several times, beat him, and knelt on his back for over 15 minutes. After he

told them he could not breathe, no mercy was shown. The responsible officer was never fired, put on probation, or suspended. He was never charged or indicted

due to a “lack of evidence." My son's face is enough to show pure evidence of the law enforcement-inflicted

violence. The police were aware of mental issues yet took nothing into consideration. Damien

still has not received the Justice he deserves. I believe in the power of God, and I believe in

Justice for all. I believe in Exodus 14:14, “ stay calm, and GOD WILL FIGHT FOR YOU" I will

remain calm and never lose my faith in the Lord, which is how I know he will fight for

justice for Damien! Help me make a change by becoming a part of the change.
