This surgery is mandatory if Eddie is going to continue to breath without continual oxygen. Even though the "V.A. Choice" program will be covering the costs of the initial surgery, there will be a large number of additional expenses that the V.A. does not cover such as temporary housing, food, travel expenses, and if the surgery is a success, we hope to be able to participate in the new stem cell treatments through the "Lung Institute" to improve his C.O.P.D. These treatments are new, and are not covered by the V.A.
Eddie has always been the first in line to volunteer for all of the charitable endeavors, and has donated countless man hours to such organizations as: The Elks, The Loyal Order of Moose, The fraternal Order of Eagles, The Am Vets, The V.F.W., and The American Legion. Before his condition grew worse, he even did all of the lawn mowing for our local SPCA as a donation to help them cover their expenses.
We are currently retired on Eddie's V.A. pension, along with a few dollars he makes with his music. I have not been working, as the doctors feel that they would rather he not be left alone. Covering these upcoming expenses will be almost impossible for us personally, so we are asking for a little help from those of you who can.
Any heartfelt donation, in any amount, would be truly appreciated, and we might ask that you would share this information to help us get the word out.
Thank you in advance for your kind consideration.
