Hi everyone, my name is Lashawndra (Jazz). I didn’t want to make this, but so many people reached out after seeing what my family is going through. As a mother, my daughter come first, so here I am, humbly asking for support. ❤️

We discovered severe black mold hidden behind the walls in my home. The mold was caused by a burst pipe, and the adjuster didn’t even show up until after I had already torn the wall down myself trying to stop it from spreading. Once the drywall was opened, the contractor told me it was dangerous and unsafe for me and my daughter to stay in the home.

My daughter has already been to urgent care and is still dealing with headaches, body aches, congestion, nausea, dizziness, and eye irritation from the exposure.

During all of this, my mortgage company and insurance were giving me the runaround. I felt stuck and scared, so as a mother trying to protect her child, I bought my own safety gear and removed part of the mold-covered drywall myself just to understand the damage and keep it from getting worse while waiting for help that never came fast enough.

Insurance is only covering about $7,000 for basic restoration, but they are NOT covering:

• Mold remediation

• Repiping ($8,000)

• Hotel/relocation

This has been overwhelming physically, emotionally, and financially. I’m just trying to keep my daughter safe and get her into a healthy home again.
