Just a Guy and His Cat Trying To Find Their Home.

Hello! My name is go by is IKEA, over the last year due to being homeless and going though a bit of recovery, I decided to hike the Appalachian Trail. Along my journey, I planned to attempt to save money to be able to afford to get my life back on track. While on trail, the cat distribution system got me and gave me a kitten who was named Smokie. We have been hiking since February 7th this year and have been growing together ever since.

Now the trail is winding down for us and we are now looking for a home. With getting myself “right” and my mental health stable, I believe it’s time for me to put my best foot forward and re integrate into society.

I am a disabled veteran who has some decent challenges to overcome. From gaining access back into the VA health care system and quite a few legal issues to be take care of.

I cannot lie I do received a little disability pay from the VA, however it’s isn’t enough to be able to afford to cover the costs of securing housing. And if it is, I end up with a drained bank account with none or limited funds to even be able to afford grocery’s for the month.

I have attempted to do this myself multiple times over the past few years with being homeless however I at the same time was never truly ready to get an apartment or home due to struggling with my addiction.

However I know I am ready due to my addiction no longer plays a role in my life. I have been clean for well over a year now and would love to be able to provide a stable home for Smokie, be able to get back to the work force, and to be once again a productive member of society.

Not having a drivers license (I have one, I just have some requirements to obtain it again) I believe I will have to live in a city with good public transportation, near a VA center to complete a substance abuse program, and weekly drug testing just for one part of my license issue. One other requirement is for me to go to court in GA for a super speeder ticket, and a few fines in Kentucky.

There are another few issues in Kentucky I need to address as well for restitution for destruction of property and wanted endangerment. I cut a pool light that was falling out of a socket due to the owners of an apartment complex not wanting to repair it correctly. I know I am guilty, I know I did not handle the situation correctly and let my attitude and anger get the best of me.

I don’t expect any help for any of my fines, they were my poor choices and actions that caused me to receive them and it’s my responsibility to pay for them and to make them right.

I truly just need help to secure housing so that I can start to take care of these issues, to find gainful employment, and to finish getting “right”.

I do not expect anything to come of this. I know we all have to pay for the mistakes and decisions we have made.

I was recommended by others to try a go fund me to possibly help me as I attempt to see if the VA can begun to start helping me once more.

Thank You in advance for any help that you may be able to do.

I hope you have a Blessed Day.

God Bless

PS, I chose the “Faith” category because with the Faith of a mustard seed, Mountains CAN be moved.

I chose the zip code that I did because it is what matches my only form of “state ID” and is my mothers zip code where what important mail I may receive will not be “lost”. It’s not that I exactly want to “live” there, but Holland is a nice place.
