Beste Buurtjes en mede-Rotterdammers,

We hebben allemaal een plek nodig - om te wonen, om samen te komen en om aan sociale initiatieven te werken. Maar in onze stad zijn zulke plekken schaars, onbetaalbaar en onzeker. Dat terwijl er in Rotterdam 17.278 panden leeg staan. Dat vinden wij schandalig.

Wij zijn de Petteflet. Een groep mensen die het leegstaande pand aan de Havenstraat– dat ruim 20 jaar heeft geen doel heeft gehad en bewust onbewoonbaar is gemaakt – omvormt tot een antwoord op deze kapitalistische hebzucht. Ons doel is een stad die draait om wederzijdse hulp, solidariteit en zelforganisatie.

Waarom dit belangrijk is:

We streven ernaar een sociale functie in de buurt in te nemen. De Petteflet moet een plek worden waar mensen elkaar kunnen ontmoeten, samen kunnen leren, en samen kunnen reflecteren. We gaan hard aan het werk om het pand op te knappen en creëren zo niet alleen woonruimte, maar vooral een broedplaats voor sociale initiatieven. Iedereen is uitgenodigd om daar onderdeel van te worden!

De rechtzaak:

Helaas wordt dit initiatief nu bedreigd met ontruiming. De eigenaar kiest voor leegstand en verval boven een levendige, sociale invulling. Wij geloven dat dit onrechtvaardig is en willen ons tegen verweren. Deze rechtszaak gaat niet alleen over één pand. Het is een principieel gevecht:

Een juridische strijd voeren is duur. De opbrengst van deze actie is hard nodig voor advocaatkosten en gerechtskosten. Elke euro die je geeft, is een steunbetuiging voor een socialer Rotterdam en een directe investering in het behoud van deze plek.

Dear Neighbours and Fellow Rotterdammers,

We all need a place—to live, to gather, and to work on social initiatives. But in our city, such places are scarce, unaffordable, and insecure. And yet, there are 17,278 vacant buildings in Rotterdam. We find this scandalous.

We are the Petteflet. A group of people who are transforming the vacant building on Havenstraat—which has served no purpose for over 20 years and has been deliberately made uninhabitable—into an answer to this capitalist greed. Our goal is a city that revolves around mutual aid, solidarity, and self-organization.

Why this is important:

We strive to fulfil a social function in the neighbourhood. The Petteflet will become a place where people can meet, learn together, and reflect together. We are working hard to renovate the building, creating not only living space but, above all, a breeding ground for social initiatives. Everyone is invited to become part of this!

The lawsuit:

Unfortunately, this initiative is now threatened with eviction. The owner is choosing vacancy and decay over a vibrant, social function. We believe this is unfair and want to defend ourselves against it. This lawsuit isn't just about one building. It's a principled fight:
