Jupiter's Emergency!

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

I don't know where to begin.

My lil pal, Jupiter, is the best thing since sliced bread. Hands down.

I got Jupiter as a puppy when I was 19 and in an awful place in my life. I had just found out about the loss of my big brother, Matt, I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and I had recently lost my childhood dog, Chica. I was severely depressed, and my body was void of joy.

When I found out about Jupiter, something immediately drew me to him. I asked my mom if we could visit the litter. She said, "definitely not". So, of course, I tried a new tactic. I went to my dad, and instead, asked him if he'd accompany me on a "short road trip". He knew I was up to something but ultimately agreed. We drove in Bay Area rush hour traffic, from the north to the south bay. On the way, I told him my plan. He was in. Then we met Jupiter, and we immediately fell in love.
I brought Jupiter back to my mom's house the following day and hid him in my room for three days. I eventually told my mom, and my options were to take Jupiter back or for us to both leave. We both left together, and our adventure together began! He brought health, joy, and love back into my life, and I promised I would always provide the same for him.

Fast forward to 06/04/2022, Jupiter and I live in a happy family together in our own apartment in southern California, with my girlfriend, Emma, and her two boys, Albie and Indie. Jupiter celebrated his 5th birthday!

Yesterday, 06/07/2022, Jupiter got extremely sick out of seemingly nowhere. I had never seen him sick before. I took him to an emergency vet, where we waited 4 hours for him to be seen. He became so ill in those 4 hours that he didn't have the energy to hop in the car to sleep in the back seat, and I had to pick him up to get him in.

I got an update from the vet around 2:30am, where pancreatitis and obstruction were ruled out. The emergency vet diagnosed him with acute hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, severe dehydration, and possible ulcers. We transferred him to an internal medicine specialist this morning at 6:45 am.

The good news: I got an update from the specialist at 4:15 pm. The fluids and various injections have helped quite a bit, and he hasn't had any more liquids coming out of either end. Hopefully, if things continue to go well, I can bring him home tomorrow or the next day.

The emergency vet visit was $1,675, and the specialist visit was a little over $1500. Invoices posted in the updates.

Donations will be going towards both vet visits, as well as medications, and specialty food.

Thank you so much for helping Jupiter and I out. Please share, every dollar counts. :)
