At 4am on June 26th Jupiter bloated. Thankfully we were with him and knew exactly what was happening. We got Bloat Buster down his throat and rushed to the Emergency Vet. In the process of trying to get the Bloat Buster down his throat he bit a good sized chunk out of his tongue. So now not only was he bloating he was drooling and spitting blood everywhere. We didn't know if he would make it. We had no idea how bad it was. They gave him pain meds and with an x ray confirmed his stomach was twisted and extremely enlarged. The surgeon was called in on emergency and they started prepping him for surgery. His stomach was decompressed, IV fluids were started, pain meds started, vital checks began. He just laid there helpless on the table drooling blood everywhere. It was absolutely heartbreaking.

Thankfully the surgery went well. They had to put 12 stitches in his tongue also due to how badly he mutilated it. His stomach was in great condition still so none of it needed to be removed. His other organs were all good so those were not removed or messed with. He has spent the night in the hospital to be monitored. He aspirated blood and mucus and drool so they are concerned he may have fluid in his lungs. So far so good. His vitals have improved. They took him off oxygen and the EKG machine. He's still receiving pain meds, antibiotics, and fluids via IV.

Today they are continuing to monitor his breathing, which so far has improved and is no longer a big concern. They are checking bloodwork every couple hours to ensure all his levels normalize, which so far they have improved greatly. The last safety check is doing a radiograph today to make sure his heart and lungs are clear and good to go.
Anyone who knows us knows how much we love our dogs. They are our world. We would always do anything we could to save them. I hate to have to ask for help doing that. We had to pay 7,000 yesterday prior to surgery as his deposit. The initial estimate was between 7 and 8 thousand so thats why I'm asking for help in raising the full 8,000 at this point. Him being hospitalized for over 30 hours now and all the tests are racking up. I can only imagine the amount thats going to be due when we go to pick him up. Anything helps! Every penny is greatly appreciated! We will continue to keep everyone updated and share updates on our Instagram account and Facebook accounts.
Thank you all so very much for loving and caring about our Jupiter. The insane amount of love, support, prayers, etc has been so incredible. We are so blessed and can never say thank you enough. But we can always continue to pay it forward. Thank you all again!
