Queridos amigos(as) & familiares…Sou o Alex Silva, o namorado do Alexandre (Ale Beck). É com o coração apertado que venho pedir ajuda de vocês em um momento difícil pra nós. Ele entrou nas Urgências do Hospital CUF Tejo dia 12/08, com paralisia das cordas vocais com aducao e sentindo falta de ar. Foi internado no CTI e imediatamente entubado para não correr risco de morte. Fizeram diversos exames e tratamento medicos. Foram dias e noites de muita dor e sofrimento, a cada visita, vê-lo amarrado na cama, entubado, sonda, todo furado, completamente vulnerável. Sentia uma tristeza que nunca senti antes, mas tinha que ser forte ali por ele, e pra isso pedia a Deus diariamente para me manter com fé e esperança, graças aos amigos e familiares que também estavam comigo nessa corrente de apoio. Dia 21/08, recebi uma ligação do hospital me informando que iriam conseguir extuba-lo e fazer a cirurgia de traqueostomia. Fiquei aliviado, pois, era a noticia que eu aguardava a dias.

Como muitos de vocês sabem, os custos de internação, tratamento e cirurgia em hospital particular são extremamente altos, e infelizmente, o nosso plano de saúde é básico e não cobre todas despesas hospitalares.

Os gastos incluem medicamentos, exames constantes, consultas de otorrino, cirurgia de traqueostomia e as diárias de internamento em quarto de CTI. Vamos fazer tudo o que está ao nosso alcance para superar essa situação, mas não conseguimos sozinho. Por isso, peço a sua ajuda para arrecadar os recursos necessários para cobrir essas despesas médicas.

Qualquer contribuição será de imenso valor e fará uma enorme diferença nessa jornada de recuperação.

Segundo os médicos do hospital na CUF, baseados nos resultados dos exames, foi diagnosticado e tratado para a Síndrome de Guilliam-Barré. Permaceu entubado do dia 12 ate 21 de agosto. Foi rapidamente identificada persistência de estridor por paralisia bilateral de cordas vocais. Após tentativa de extubação, tendo sido reentubado. No dia 21 de agosto foi submetido a traqueostomia cirúrgica.

A Cirurgia de traqueostomia foi necessária, pois, as suas cordas vocais ainda se encontravam paralisadas e fechadas. Também foi a única opção para ser extubado e sair do CTI.

Consegui a transferência dele para o Hospital Público São José, no dia 23 de agosto, ficou internado primeiramente nos Cuidados Semi Intensivos, onde teve tratamento com a médica otorrino e fisioterapeuta. Quando se tentou fechar a cânola de traqueostomia, foi notado que apresentava fuga aérea, com agravamento do efizema subcutâneo (entrata de ar por baixo da pele) causando inchaço extremo na cabeca, tórax, pescoço e braços. Neste contexto, foi avaliado pela Otorrino, que optou pela remoção da cânola no dia 26 de agosto.

Foi transferido para a Unidade de Neurologia para continuar a recuperação, as fisioterapias e fazer alguns exames neurológicos para um diagnóstico mais preciso. Constataram em poucos dias, que não se tratava da Síndrome de Gilliam-Barré devido ao histórico dos sintomas e pela mobilidade e reflexos nos membros superiores e inferiores. Foram feitos novos exames, tais como, Punção Lombar e Eletromiografia. As Neurologistas seguem estudando o caso do Ale, porém, por apresentar uma melhora clínica, foi dado a alta no dia 10 setembro para seguir sua recuperação e tratamento em casa. Foi explicado pela Neurologista, após estudarem o caso e os resultados dos exames até o momento, não encontraram ainda um diagnóstico, mas que possivelmente trata-se de uma encefalite auto-imune. Seguimos aguardando uma resposta dos médicos.

Estão marcados consultas de Otorrino, Hematologia, Terapeuta da fala, Neurologia e Exame Poligráfico do sono nocturno para as próximas semanas de setembro e início de outubro.

Dear friends & family…I'm Alex Silva, Alexandre's boyfriend. It is with a heavy heart that I come to ask for your help in a difficult time for us. He entered the Emergency Room at CUF Tejo Hospital on August 12th, with problems with his vocal cords and shortness of breath. He was admitted to the ICU and immediately intubated to avoid the risk of death. They underwent several medical examinations and treatment. There were days and nights of a lot of pain and suffering, with each visit, seeing him tied to the bed, intubated, with a tube, all punctured, completely vulnerable. I felt a sadness that I had never felt before, but I had to be strong there for him, and for that I asked God daily to keep me with faith and hope, thanks to some friends and family who were also with me in this chain of faith. On August 21st, I received a call from the hospital informing me that they would be able to extubate him and perform tracheostomy surgery. It was as if a great weight had been lifted from me. Because now he could be transferred to a public hospital where the cost would be greatly reduced.

As many of you know, the costs of hospitalization, treatment and surgery in a private hospital are extremely high, and unfortunately, our health insure is basic and does not cover all hospital expenses.

The Expenses include medications, regular exams, ENT appointments, tracheostomy surgery and daily hospitalization in an ICU room. We will do everything in our power to overcome this situation, but we cannot do it alone. Therefore, I am asking for your help to raise the necessary resources to cover these medical expenses.

According to doctors at the CUF hospital, based on the test results, he was diagnosed and treated for Guilliam-Barré Syndrome. He remained intubated from the 12th until the 21st of August. Persistence of stridor due to bilateral vocal cord paralysis was quickly identified. After an extubation attempt, he was reintubated. On August 21st he underwent surgical tracheostomy.

Tracheostomy surgery was necessary because his vocal cords were still paralyzed and closed. It was also the only option to be extubated and leave the ICU.

I managed to transfer him to the São José Public Hospital, on August 23rd, he was first admitted to Semi Intensive Care, where he received treatment from the ENT doctor and physiotherapist. When an attempt was made to close the tracheostomy tube, it was noticed that there was air leakage, with worsening of the subcutaneous ephizema (air entry under the skin) causing extreme swelling in the head, chest, neck and arms. In this context, it was evaluated by Otorrino, which opted to remove the canola on August 26th.

He was transferred to the Neurology Unit to continue recovery, physiotherapy and undergo some neurological exams for a more accurate diagnosis. They discovered within a few days that it was not Gilliam-Barré Syndrome due to the history of symptoms and the mobility and reflexes in the upper and lower limbs. New tests were carried out, such as Lumbar Puncture and Electromyography. Neurologists continue to study Ale's case, however, as he showed clinical improvement, he was discharged on September 10th to continue his recovery and treatment at home.

It was explained by the Neurologist, after studying the case and the results of the tests so far, they have not yet found a diagnosis, but that it is possibly autoimmune encephalitis. We continue to wait for a response from the doctors.

Appointments for ENT, Hematology, Speech Therapist, Neurology and Night Sleep Polygraphic Examination are scheduled for the next few weeks of September and early October.
