¡Juntos con Glannibe contra el Cáncer de Mama!

Soy Glannibe Henriquez, tengo 37 años. Soy Médico Hematólogo Pediatra, especialidad que he desempeñado en los últimos 8 años en el sector público de Venezuela. Hago mi trabajo con amor, dedicación, fe y paciencia porque con mis conocimientos han ayudo a brindar esperanza y otra oportunidad de vida a niños con cáncer (Leucemias y Linfomas) así como con múltiples enfermedades de la sangre.

Esta vez, la vida me plantea un reto, no como médico sino ahora como paciente. Los roles han cambiado. El 15 de diciembre del 2023 me diagnosticaron cáncer de mama ductal infiltrante moderadamente diferenciado. Ya en el mes de enero se recibieron resultados que confirmaban tener la mutación HER-2 positiva, por lo que adicional a las quimioterapias, necesito cumplir un tratamiento dirigido a la mutación que mejorará la respuesta del tumor.

Este tratamiento adicional consta de Herceptin (Trastuzumab) que se cumple semanal y adicionalmente el Perjeta (Pertuzumab) que se cumple cada 21 días. Ambos medicamentos debo iniciarlos lo antes posible y luego de completar las primeras 12 dosis ir a cirugía y radioterapia. Todos los costos debo cubrirlos porque no tengo ninguna póliza de seguros.

Con mis ahorros, la ayuda de mi familia, seres queridos y grandes amigos inicié mis tratamientos de quimioterapia, exámenes de laboratorio y estudios de imágenes. Pero aún no comienzo el tratamiento necesario para la mutación. Como consecuencia del cáncer, mi vida laboral está totalmente detenida. Adicionalmente, soy el único sostén económico de mi hogar en medio de la compleja situación económica de Venezuela. ¿Por qué te cuento esto? ¡Necesito tu ayuda! El costo de los medicamentos es alto y sin asistencia económica, es muy difícil e incluso quizás imposible adquirir el tratamiento que es hoy mi única opción para recorrer un camino a la sanación.

Necesito de todo el apoyo, solidaridad y buen corazón para costear mi tratamiento y hacer frente a este reto que ha traído el cáncer a mi vida.

Confío plenamente que Dios seguirá dándome fortaleza para avanzar en este camino retador a la sanación para así retomar mi trabajo como médico y tener la oportunidad de ayudar en la vida de más niños y niñas, como lo he hecho con tanta pasión hasta este momento. Deseo esa nueva oportunidad para compartir mis conocimientos y seguir la travesía de la vida con mis familiares y amigos por muchos años más.

I am Glannibe Henriquez, I am 37 years old. I am a Pediatric Hematologist Oncologist, a specialty I have been working in for the past 8 years in the public sector of Venezuela. I do my work with love, dedication, faith, and patience because with my knowledge I have helped to bring hope and another chance of life to children with cancer (Leukemias and Lymphomas) as well as with multiple blood diseases.

This time, life presents me with a challenge, not as a doctor but now as a patient. The roles have changed. On December 15, 2023, I was diagnosed with moderately differentiated infiltrating ductal breast cancer. Already in January, results were received confirming that I have the HER-2 positive mutation, so in addition to chemotherapy, I need to undergo treatment directed at the mutation that will improve the tumor's response.

This additional treatment consists of Herceptin (Trastuzumab) to be taken weekly and additionally Perjeta (Pertuzumab) to be taken every 21 days. I must start both medications as soon as possible and after completing the first 12 doses, undergo surgery and radiotherapy. I must cover all costs because I do not have any insurance policy.

With my savings, the help of my family, loved ones, and great friends, I started my chemotherapy treatments, laboratory tests, and imaging studies. But I have not yet begun the necessary treatment for the mutation. Because of cancer, my work life is completely on hold. Additionally, I am the sole economic support of my home amid the complex economic situation in Venezuela.

Why am I telling you this? I need your help! The cost of medications is high and without financial assistance, it is very difficult and perhaps even impossible to acquire the treatment that is now my only option for a path to healing.

I need all the support, solidarity, and kindness to cover my treatment and face this challenge that cancer has brought into my life.

I fully trust that God will continue to give me strength to move forward on this challenging path to healing, in order to resume my work as a doctor and have the opportunity to help the lives of more boys and girls, as I have done with so much passion up to this moment. I desire that new opportunity to share my knowledge and continue the journey of life with my family and friends for many more years.
