Junnelle survived a 65-foot fall and needs help!

Junnelle is a very conscientious, experienced, and safe athlete. Her passion is running. Junnelle has competed in many competitive and non-competitive runs, including 5ks, trail running, all the way up to ultras. She also enjoys rock climbing and was at the Emeralds (in California) climbing a route called “Fake News” on Sunday, July 9, 2023, when she took a bad fall. The initial plummet was estimated at 50’, after which she continued falling another 15’. Her belaying partner Erin incurred minor injuries. Junnelle’s partner acted quickly and level-headed as she called for help and stayed at her side. Within a short period of time Mary, a wonderful nurse, who was out enjoying the wilderness that day, arrived on the scene. Ground emergency crews promptly appeared at the scene, after which the helicopter arrived and airlifted her to the hospital. She was found to have a concussion with blood on the brain, a fracture in the spine, a broken jaw in two places, a broken femur, and many lacerations. Junnelle is presently experiencing difficulty with one arm, has her jaw wired shut, has difficulty focusing on computer screens, and is relearning how to walk. She has been told she has a long road ahead for recovery.

With Junnelle's lengthy recovery situation, she is presently unable to sustain her income. Immediately prior to the accident, Junnelle had a career change opportunity she was pursuing that may or may not still be available when she is able to work again. Due to her current employer being based in Oregon, Junnelle is unable to qualify for California Disability Insurance and presently Oregon does not have that insurance available.
