Hi Everyone,
We are kicking off a campaign to help MaKayla Farmer, Brandon Farmer, their daughter Juniper, and we need your help!
MaKayla and Brandon’s daughter, Juniper, was diagnosed with a rare heart condition earlier this year called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). The specialists have recommended a series of three open heart surgeries as treatment for this condition. The first surgery called the Norwood will be undergone within the first week of life. The second procedure, the Glenn, will occur between four to six months of age and the final surgery, the Fontan, occurring between 18-36 months. There are potentially other medical devices and procedures that may be required depending on how she responds to the planned procedures; such as additional surgeries, GI tubes, regular oxygen treatments, etc. In order to seek the best treatment possible for their little heart warrior, the family is going to be relocating for six months to Houston, Texas to receive medical care from their single ventricle cardiac team and a number of other medical specialists.
Many know that Brandon and MaKayla are high school sweethearts from Southeast of Saline High School who’ve been together for twelve years and have been undergoing IVF treat for two years and fertility issues for four years. They were finally blessed to have Juniper together but sadly their medical journey isn’t over now that they’ve learned of this diagnosis.
The effects of this condition are devastating to their family, but they are maintaining high spirits that she is strong enough to make it! The prognosis, with the procedures, is a 60 percent survival rate with a full recovery. Without these surgeries and proper medical care in a cardiac NICU the survival rate for children with this condition is less than 5 percent. We can’t cure Juniper, but we can help ease the financial burden and resultant stress that the family is facing. Our goal is to raise the entire $25,000 for them to go towards their travel, food, housing, lost income, and medical expenses.
In true survivor fashion, Juniper is already fighting to face this condition with the support of her parents and family. But this family needs more than moral support but also monetary support to ease the financial strain. I am humbly asking that you share Juniper’s story and prayerfully consider contributing to this little heart warrior and her family.
