Juniors journey to DMI Intensive Therapy
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Stacey and I am raising funds to help assist in the cost of intensive outpatient therapy for my young son. DMI (Dynamic Movement Intervention)
My twins Dionte Jr. & Demari were born at 32 weeks & 2 days via emergency C-section. As a result of premature birth & other complications Dionte suffered a brain injury which led to a PVL (Periventricular Leukomalacia) diagnosis at one month old and then onto an official Mixed Tone Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy diagnosis at one year old.
If you know Junior you know he has the best smile and is just the sweetest boy! Dionte does not let his disabilities define him and he is so amazingly motivated to try everything he sets out to do and he is certainly on a mission to prove he is capable of anything! I push him daily to achieve milestones and work very hard on his development as well as his therapists through Early Intervention. We have seen so much progress on Junior's part but we know that he still has a long way to go with many challenges he will continue to have to push through. With that being said, I have done a lot of research on programs that can help him achieve goals we have set for him at a faster rate.
At this point in time we have completed a 2 week DMI intensive therapy session at Hummingbird Pediatric Therapy in December of 2023. We have also secured a 3 week program at NAPA Center which is one of the top physical therapy centers in the US for pediatric rehabilitation. This center provides innovative programs specializing in physical & occupational therapies. These programs have specific exercise plans & activities that help maintain and enhance strength, balance, and motor control. We truly hope that with your help we can provide this opportunity for Dionte Jr. We are certain that these options will help build his confidence, strength and benefit his independence journey in a new way.
Unfortunately neither of these programs accepts our health insurance so the overall cost will be paid directly out of pocket. As you can imagine, the total cost is extremely high and is very overwhelming but the possibility to improve Dionte's independence by far outweigh the cost concerns. It is proven that children make more progress in 3 weeks of intensive therapy than they would in 1 whole year of traditional therapy!
Due to the whirlwind of changes that our lives have drastically taken over the past 2 years, I have been unable to return to my career. It is not an easy decision to ask our friends & family for this kind of support but there have been many people that have asked how they can help. As his mother, advocate and full-time care giver I would like to thank you in advance whether it be a donation, a share, kind words or prayers! Our family truly appreciates any help towards achieving our fundraising goal
