HDU Junior golf development fund

My name is Julian Knowles, and I am the newly appointed Junior Development Officer for The Harrogate District Union of Golf Clubs. My role is to help develop and provide opportunities for all junior members of the 12 Union Clubs.

I am embarking on a fund-raising event on 8th July 2022 where I cycle and walk between each club, carrying my golf clubs and playing one hole at each course in 18 hours

 

I intend to start at Ilkley Golf Club and walk along the river to Otley GC. I shall then set off on bike to Rudding Park. Hopefully, breakfast at Pannal GC will help with the walking between the other Harrogate Clubs and onto Knaresborough GC. The remaining miles taking in the other five HDU clubs shall be done on my bike starting at Knaresborough, via Ripon, Masham, Bedale, Romanby and finishing at my club Thirsk and Northallerton GC, hopefully in time for the bar still being open!

 

This venture aims to raise funds that will help support the present and the next generation of children who are members of HDU clubs. The HDU manager and the Junior Development Officer will use this money to underpin Junior development and coaching within the Union over the next 4 or 5 years. We want to help junior golfers of all levels, from complete beginners to the elite HDU Junior Team.
