Junie is three years old. She is a delight, and is the belle of any waiting room she finds herself in. She came into my life by way of adoption back in September and unbeknownst to us then, we’ve come to find Junie has a truckload of medical issues.
Most recently, we spent the week in and out of the vet trying to get to the bottom of digestive issues which most recently landed us in the emergency vet for a day. We’re still trying to get to the bottom of what’s going on, and so we have a good deal of treatment ahead.
None of this is to address her hip issues, and injured CCL which needs immediate attention. Between what has been spent and what will be in the next few months, we are, again unexpectedly, in the 5-figure territory.
Because they started moderately soon after adoption, a lot of her struggles fall outside of umbrella of insurance coverage.
I realized Junie would be an investment, and it’s one I am happy to make, though we didn’t expect a few years worth of work to come in all at once.
I realize there are 500 other things that require collective time (art, activism, rent), attention and funds, and please don’t forsake any of that in order to give a hand. But if you are able to throw some dollars at Junie in the face of this unexpected onslaught, I have it on good faith that she’ll appreciate it.
