UNITE THE CITY”- Quoted from Community Activist, Jameel Patterson
White America and the rest of America, we need you all not only to be an ally, but we need you all to be an accomplice in investing into the Black community.
On Saturday, June 20, 2020, in observation of Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day for former captured Africans and their descendants, we will be celebrating our freedom from chattel slavery and demanding our freedom from white supremacy policies, policing, and economic starvation. This community led gathering will happen in San Francisco’s last majority Black neighborhood, Bayview Hunter’s Point. However, Black San Francisco from all neighborhoods, Fillmore, Lakeview, Vis Valley, Alemany, etc. are all invited to come to this freedom celebration as we Unite the City under the umbrella of Black Commerce.
According to CBS News, “40 percent of Black-Owned Businesses are not expected to survive coronavirus.” The Black Community is unifying to increase our economic footprint in San Francisco; as well as America, but in order to do so we need your help and support. The idea for this event started through social media by a local Black business owner, Tiffany Carter, owner of Boug Cali.
By donating to this event or patronizing Black Businesses or donating to Black Led Organizations, White America and the rest of America will be making actionable steps to support the Black Community in gaining its true freedom in America through economic prosperity. The theme of this event is “SF Black Wall Street.” The event will be held at Gilman Park on Saturday, June 20, 2020 from 1pm to 6pm. This is a community event, so all is welcome. I want to put emphasis on ALL. Everyone will be required to adhere to social distancing and facial covering rule. Thanks for your support and never forget, BLACK LIVES MATTER.
