Juneteenth Celebration in the North Country

This historic and symbolic inaugural celebration in Potsdam, NY, dating back to the end of slavery in Texas on June 19, 1865, is part of a tradition recognized by African Americans all around the United States of America, and one that we are starting here in the North Country. These funds will be used for the celebration, which includes food, entertainment and decorations. The Juneteenth celebration takes place this Saturday, June 20, 2020, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM, at the Ives Park Gazebo in Potsdam, NY. We need to collect the funds as soon as possible, preferably by Wednesday, June 17, but donations at any time will be appreciated, even after the event itself. It has been a challenging time with the death George Floyd and so many other racially motivated senseless deaths, now more than ever, we feel the need to have a celebration expressing our humanity, desire for freedom and true equality for everyone, while honoring the legacy of the eventual end of bondage of our African American brothers and sisters.
