Hi, I'm June and I'll be getting top surgery on the 16th of December. I'm reliant on universal credit and due to an extremely crazy couple of months, I am not able to afford transport and associated costs the way I initially thought I could. In one month I had a wedding, a funeral, and two appointments all in very distant parts of the UK, and I have no savings. My relationship with my family is very rocky and I'm not able to ask for money or a loan, therefore I am turning to community fundraising for help.
For the surgery period itself, I'll be staying with a friend at premier inn and taking the train there and back, which will come to around £150 including buses, trams or taxis to and from the hospital. The train is looking to be somewhere in the area of £50-65. I have a pre-op appointment next Thursday which will cost £45, as well as public transport to get to the hospital, most likely an uber which would be something like £15, plus the same back into town. Any money left over will go to food and assistive stuff for my recovery such as button ups, slippers, compression socks, painkillers and scar oil.
Thankyou for reading, even if you didn't donate - I appreciate so much that a lot of people are in the same boat as me. It's actually hard to believe that I've even got this chance at all, to be able to take a massive step towards feeling at home in my body, with a great surgical team on the NHS. Please share if you're able, and wish me luck on this exciting chapter!
