June Bug is our 8 year old pug/chihuahua mix that Gregg and I adopted from the animal shelter I work at in 2016. From the moment we saw her, she stole our hearts. For the last three years, June Bug has been the sweetest, most loving, and funniest dog we’ve ever known! A few days ago, June Bug stopped eating and seemed out of sorts. After taking her to our vet yesterday, her bloodwork revealed elevated kidney levels that indicated an “acute kidney injury” with an unknown cause. June was admitted today to a 24 hour emergency pet hospital, and she will be there for at least the next 48 hours. They are keeping her on around-the-clock IV fluids, and are running numerous tests to try to find out what is happening (toxin exposure, blockage, infection, etc) and trying to lower her elevated levels. The doctor was cautiously optimistic, but was also extremely concerned about where her kidney levels are currently. We want to do whatever it takes to bring her home, and this aggressive treatment is the best option at this point. It’s hard to ask for help, but Gregg and I really need your support. June’s vet bills are already up to nearly $3000, and will likely continue to climb. All of the funds will go directly to her treatment and care. June Bug means the world to us and we appreciate any support you are able to offer.
