Jumping to raise funds for Pancreatic Cancer

Tax deductible
I have signed up to do a charity skydive on the 16th July 2022, to raise money for the Three Bears Foundation. All money raised by this charity goes directly towards pancreatic cancer, whereas other cancer charities only give up to 5% to this least understood cancer charity.

As a person who isn’t normally into adrenalin activities, unless you count lifting a pint of Carling a sugar rush then I am not the individual you would ever expect to throw herself out of a plane and do a skydive. But when my mother in Law’s best friend died from pancreatic cancer 5 years ago, I have been thinking what can I do to raise awareness and money for a very worthy cause. The pandemic halted me doing anything over the last 2 years, but has also inspired me that life is too short and precious, we need to stop putting things off…..so 2022 is the year I am ready to challenge myself to help the fight against pancreatic cancer.

Pancreatic cancer is the most undiagnosed and least understood cancer charity, Jane sadly died shortly after her diagnosis. Her family set up the Three Bears foundation in her memory, The Three Bears Foundation received its name from Jane’s nickname for her son “Chrissy Bear”. with the Burn family affectionately known as “The Three Bears.”

With an underlying motto of “More than the extra mile” I believe a skydive for someone who rarely puts herself out of her comfort zone a demonstration of going the extra mile.

My goal is to increase public awareness and raise valuable funds for a worthy cause. The Three Bears mission is to overcome and stamp out one of the most under-diagnosed and least understood of cancers forever. I am not a runner, a cyclist and if you asked my friends, they would laugh at the thought of me doing any form of exercise. I have always had a desire to skydive, giving the control over to someone else, again, those who know me, know I am always in control – but by combining stepping way out of my comfort zone and jumping from 11,000ft with an aim to raise £1,100 for a charity that gives all its proceeds to the fight against pancreatic cancer I can start to make a difference to stop the impact it has on so many lives.
