Hey everyone.
As many of you may already know Electra is one of my oldest friends. We navigated High School together, we tried and failed whilst underage to get into nightclubs together. (I still tell the story of the ID falling apart to this day)
My darling LE was diagnosed in December 2021 with incurable, inoperable Stage 4 Bowel Cancer.
Friends for life we always said. And we are. It may not be a everyday chat friendship. But we are there. Through the years, tears, babies.
I saw my darling Ellie break down, I hugged her. Wishing with everything in me that I could take it all away. I can't. But I'll do everything I damn well can to help her and her 4 beautiful babies, to have their mummy longer.
Myself and 4 amazing ladies, Susie, Angela, Debbie and Imke (some of my Overpower Fitfam) are going to
'Jumping for Japan' ..out of a plane at 13,000 ft. Parachute attached...
Because my absolute nemesis is heights. But nothing I feel in fear, could ever, ever compare to what my darling Ellie must be feeling.
This is her story..
On the 21st of December, just days before Christmas Ellie was given her first chemotherapy treatment. After the first few rounds she was told she'd had an excellent response and the primary tumour as well as surrounding lymph nodes had shrunk. The plan was to keep it shrinking to maybe get her to operable. Fast forward the absolute worst year of her life and she was given surgery to remove as much cancer as possible. After 12 hours of surgery that included a bowel resection, lymph node clearance, and a full hysterectomy, Ellie was out the other side and scans showed no evidence of disease. Sadly though during the surgery, damage was done to the nerves in her left foot, leaving her disabled and unable to walk without an aid. Further to this, she received more devastating news, when a visit from her surgeon informed her she didn’t have clear margins, that 34 out of 39 of lymph nodes removed were cancerous. This meant that the cancer would return. And in the biggest blow possible it has, it’s returned worse than ever with spread in further lymph nodes and several spots on her liver. Now the only type of treatment available to Ellie on the NHS is chemotherapy, and that chemotherapy will one day stop working.
Luckily we aren’t there yet, where we are though, hopefully, with your support is Japan. Japan are the world leaders on all things bowel cancer, so this means all things bowel cancer treatment, namely immunotherapy treatment. Immunotherapy is the future of cancer treatment, the uk though, sadly are years behind, and Ellie does not have years to wait. Immunotherapy however still isn’t a complete cure, but it is the best chance she has for as long as possible with her children.
Ellie refuses to die, she simply can’t, her babies are too young and too precious for her to leave them.
With your help, and your support, you can make a difference. Any donations made will count towards Ellies treatment and allow her children a better chance of more time with their Mummy.
Thank you so so much for taking the time to read. ❤️
