Jump In For Jennie!

Calling all Fools! The Fools of Chatham Fire will be back swimming in person this April 1st! This year we will swim for Jennie Porter. Jennie is a Chatham resident who suffered a massive stroke due to complications from ulcerative colitis last February. After undergoing surgery on her brain and removing part of her skull, Jennie was put into a medically induced coma for two weeks. During her recovery, Jennie has made amazing strides forward, but has also had some setbacks, all while navigating the Pandemic. Three major surgeries, multiple month long stays in hospitals, and rehabilitation centers, she’s still meeting all these challenges with her infectious smile. Her speech has been affected, as well as her use of her right leg and arm. However, Jennie's spirit, smile, and determination has not wavered. We hope you will join us in support of Jennie.

In order to host this event safely, we will be posting an online signup sheet with time blocks between 12 pm and 4:30 pm. Each group will be assigned a letter designation. No more than 25 swimmers per group.

Donations can be made in a variety of ways. A GoFundMe page will be available for online donations. Cash/checks can be made out to "April Fools" and mailed or dropped off at the Chatham Fire Department, 135 Depot Rd., Chatham, MA 02633. We can also take donations the day of the swim.

T-shirts are being processed and will be sold for $20. As soon as they are ready, they can be purchased at the Chatham Fire Department. Any remaining shirts will be available at the beach on April 1st.
