As many of you know, I lost a job I love at the end of August. While I have had a few interviews, I'm not yet gainfully employed. As the household's primary support, this leaves a substantial income gap. I applied for Employment Security Benefits and should be entitled to them; however, due to identity fraud and benefit scams, DSHS randomly sets some applications aside for a deep dive and does not disburse benefits until the investigation is complete. I'm advised it could be another six weeks.

Rent, we think we have taken care of. We have about $70 cash between us and no current way to keep our four cats in kibble and litter, keep the phone and utilities on, insurance from lapsing and the internet from being disconnected. It's mainly the cats that worry me, but the internet and phones are necessary for job searches these days.

I hate having to ask, but the long-term illness my kitty Amedei endured for several months earlier this year has left us with no savings.
