Julius's Rare Salivary Duct Surgery
Tax deductible
My name is Julius. I am a year old. All I want is to get better and find my forever home.
I used to be a normal cat with a family and a home. Then I got sick, and they couldn’t take care of me anymore. So, they left me at the shelter, like so many wayward cats before me. But even the shelter didn’t want me. They said my condition, salivary sialocele, was too delicate and expensive. They said it was more humane to euthanize me.
Purring Hearts VA saved me. They knew my condition was expensive, but all they saw was a cat in need, even though I need special care.
Salivary sialocele occurs when a salivary gland is injured due to trauma. The gland fills with mucous and can be drained but the mucous will come right back. The size and location of the gland make it difficult for me to eat. I must eat lots of small meals throughout the day to maintain weight.
To prevent the mucous from coming back, I need a complicated surgery performed by a specialist. That’s because the affected gland – which sits right above the carotid artery – needs to be completely removed. There are lots of nerves and blood vessels to avoid. I will need to remain in the hospital for a day or two for monitoring.
My surgery is set for March 24th at Blue Pearl Vet. A generous donor has already agreed to pay $1500 toward my $3500 surgery so we are asking for $2000. Any amount will help
I hope you can help me take this step toward living a pain free life and finding my forever home.
