Julija’s Support Fund – A Bridge to Brighter Days

Asking for help isn’t easy for me, but right now, I need to.

I’ve always been independent and self-reliant, so putting this out there feels uncomfortable. But after much thought (and encouragement from those around me), I’m choosing to ask for help.

In January, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was completely unexpected, and as you can imagine, it’s turned my world upside down. I’m currently undergoing chemotherapy, with surgery planned for mid-summer. I’m determined to work as much as my health allows, but the reality is that there will be days when I simply can’t.

Financially, this couldn’t have come at a worse time. My employers have been very supportive during this tough time, but the reality is that I’m still being made redundant at the end of March. My own side business, Julia Fixes Things, is doing okay, but it relies on me being physically able to work - something that’s unpredictable during treatment. I’ve looked into benefits, but because of how the system works, I won’t qualify for much if I continue trying to work and keep earning - except for a small amount of help in the two months following my surgery, as I won't be able to do much.

What I need most right now is a sense of stability—the ability to focus on my health without the constant stress of how I’ll pay my rent and afford basic living costs. That’s why I’m setting up this fundraiser: to create a safety net that allows me to get through the next year without daily financial anxiety.
