Jonathan (JP) and Melania Roof are overjoyed and happy, yet stressed to announce the birth of their beautiful daughter, Juliet Belen. Juliet was born Saturday, July 2, at 10:49 am, after deciding she wanted to enter the world early to be with Mommy, Daddy and brother Liam on their summer vacation. She was 6 weeks weeks and 4 days early, weighing 4lbs. 12.5 oz, and 18.3”.
Juliet was delivered at Fort Walton/Destin Hospital by an emergency C-section and then transferred to the Children’s Hospital NICU in Pensacola, Fl for more specialized care. JP & Melania will be staying in Pensacola for the duration of her stay at Children’s Hospital, until she is healthy enough to make the trip home to New Orleans.
Not only are Mommy and Daddy displaced from their home with financial struggles, they are also separated from their 2 year old son Liam.
Being premature brings
many challenges to her over all health and survival. Juliet’s lungs are underdeveloped, and she is on a ventilator at 100%. She has a heart murmur and her blood pressure is constantly fluctuating. EKG’s and Echos are monitoring her heart.
There are blood clots present and a kidney infection that are being treated with medication. Her bilirubin level is high so jaundice is being treated with the light therapy. Praying this will bring her level down to avoid further treatment of her liver. She’s experienced several seizures with unknown cause. She has a PICC line placed to give her nutrition due to gag reflexes and poor muscle tone. Possible physical therapy will be needed. We are waiting on the results from an EEG scan to determine possible brain damage. Also pending results for meningitis and genetic testing.
The effects of Juliet’s premature birth are devastating; however, the love, support, and prayers are greatly appreciated. Please continue to keep Juliet and her family in your thoughts and prayers as she continues to fight to grow bigger and stronger. She is definitely a strong little girl and a fighter.
We are grateful for the exceptional care she is receiving from her team of wonderful nurses and doctors in the NICU.
Jp and Melania can’t wait to have their sweet girl home and their family back together.
We can help ease the financial burden and tremendous stress that their family is facing. If you can help financially in any way, your contributions are greatly appreciated. Anything is helpful. May God bless you all.
If you can’t contribute financially, your prayers are equally as important.
If you have any other ideas to help this sweet family, we are happy to hear them!
