"First of all, I want you to know that I am trusting in God. Dad and I are putting our faith in Him, and we know that He is in control."
These were our mom’s first words to us when she came home from the emergency room one night, last February. An MRI that day revealed a tumor in her temporal lobe, a 3 cm glioblastoma. Shortly after, our parents flew to the UCSF Neurosurgery Clinic in San Francisco, where a surgeon and team specializing in glioblastomas would perform the surgery to remove the tumor.
After returning home, our mom began an intensive treatment plan that included six weeks of radiation, eight months of chemotherapy, and the use of a medical device called Optune. She wore this on her head nearly 24/7, while it's electric fields worked to inhibit cancer cell regrowth.
This has been a long journey so far, and we know there is more ahead. In January of 2021, an MRI revealed a new tumor, and our parents flew to San Francisco once again, where a second surgery was performed. A new round of chemotherapy will soon begin.
Although our mom hasn’t shared much publicly, those of you who know Juliet, know that she has always had the biggest heart to love, to serve, and to help so many as they’ve walked through hard seasons. If you know our Dad, you know he is just the same! He’s done so much to support and care for our mom during this time.
Our parents have been back home in Hawaii for about a week, where our mom continues to recover and is doing well. Now, more than ever, we are thankful for each other and for our family and friends who have kept our parents in their prayers.
Would you join us in supporting and encouraging our mom, in whatever way you can? With encouraging words, financial support, or most importantly, with prayer. The funds raised here will go toward mounting medical (and associated travel) expenses. Your prayers & encouragement are a HUGE blessing to our mom! Mahalo for standing with our family as we trust God to work this all together for our good and His glory!
