Julie's Funeral and Medical Costs
Donation protected
Hey there! My name is Jessica and I am Julie's un-sister. We have been friends forever, and our girls have grown up together, so we consider ourselves sisters. We are here to help fundraise for the immense medical expenses that Julie and her family are being hit with during such a difficult time. Her two beautiful daughters, Tayler (13) and Kaly (9) are also going to need support and counseling due to the extreme stress they have experienced through all of these medical emergencies.
A couple of years ago, Julie was struggling health-wise and was found to have a brain
tumor. After some medical and physical hardship back then, she underwent brain surgery and survived and has had no reoccurrence of tumors since. However, in Mid March 2023, Julie was not feeling well while traveling to see her daughter's cheer competition. On her way home Julie's condition rapidly declined and she became disoriented and extremely jaundiced. Her husband, Dave took her to Renown where Julie was diagnosed with Acute Liver failure. This was violent and fast moving and all of a sudden, Julie was fighting for her life. After a couple of weeks of medicinally trying to treat and help the liver to recover it was determined that the liver was beyond self-repair and Julie would need a liver transplant. The initial diagnosis claimed that Julie's Liver failure was due to alcoholism and therefore Renown declined to put Julie on the transplant list. After numerous calls, denials and requests and prayers, a group from Stanford analyzed the labs from back when Julie had her brain surgery through the current time and it was decided that alcoholism alone would not have deteriorated the liver that fast. This factor would be our saving grace as it pushed Stanford to say YES to a liver transplant!!! However, while all of this fighting outside of the hospital was going on trying to get on a transplant list, Julie's kidneys also began to fail and her lungs were partially collapsing as well. We were down to hours of life and goodbyes with her family when the approval from Stanford came through. Due to the acceptance from Stanford, we could now do life care to help her live and stabilize her until the transplant. On April 3rd, Julie was moved to CICU at Renown and a neck pic line was placed in the back of her neck as a port for a very intrusive and delicate type of dialysis called Hemodialysis. The Hemo is a constant dialysis that will basically work as a set of kidneys for now. Three IVs trying to push through collapsing veins, the neck pic line, oxygen, and as of April 5th, a feeding tube as well are keeping Julie alive and stable for now until a bed comes available at the Stanford transplant center. WE are now in a delicate holding pattern waiting for a bed, once one comes available, Julie will be care flighted from Renown ICU to Stanford's ICU and will continue fighting until a liver becomes available. Once that happens, Julie will have to hang in there through the surgery and allow her body to accept the transplant. This is a long road, that still may end in Julie not surviving. In the meantime, beyond the immense amount of medical bills hitting this family, the travel to and from Stanford and the living costs associated with such are simply overwhelming.
The money raised from this fundraiser will go to the medical bills, the transport and costs associated with going to and from Stanford for approx three months, and if Julie does not make it, funds will go for funeral expenses as well.
I will continue to update our story here so everyone can join in our fight to keep this mommy alive.

UPDATE:
It is with incredible sadness that we update this fundraiser to now help this family with the financial burden of losing this battle.
Julie passed this morning.
Now the hospital bills, funeral and even things like needing to go through the house and take stuff out, all of the little things no one really thinks about when someone passes on. This go fund me will help with those things.
Thank you for your support.
