Hello,

My name is Dhouriat and I know a Great lady called Julie, and she needs our help today.

Julie is a Security Manager at Heathrow Terminal 2 and she always goes above and beyond to help all her Colleagues. She always has everyone’s back.

Julie is a wonderful lady inside and out. She is caring, kind-hearted and I am so happy and proud to call her my friend. Friends like Julie are very hard to find. She has always put others first. And today she needs us.

In the run up to Christmas and just after Christmas, Life just seemed normal for Julie. She had a lovely Christmas with family and friends and carried-on working just as normal. On 30th December 2022, Julie went to work as normal. She had been suffering from headaches for a couple of days but kept putting it down to being tired due to working early shifts, and fatigue...

Whilst on break, Julie started feeling unwell and within a few minutes she fainted. Heathrow being so quick and helpful to respond to situations like this one, Medics were called and Julie was taken to A&E. Later that day and after 17 hours of pure pain and anxiety at Wrexham Park Hospital, Julie was diagnosed with Meningitis.

The Doctors were somewhat concerned and sent Julie for a CT scan. This is where Julie's life changed completely. Her prognosis was not good at all as she received some heartbreaking news. Two brain tumours were diagnosed from the CT scan (Medical term is Meningiomas). Albeit, one is small, the one that is located on the left side of Julie's brain. The medical team feel that they can leave this one alone for now.

Unfortunately the tumour to the right side of Julie's brain is larger, and due to the size, Radiotherapy is not an option. The only option Julie has now is surgery to try and remove these tumours. Unfortunately, like any other form of surgery, there are risks involved. Julie's tumours are deep in the base of her skull and the risks include loss of vision, mobility, speach or could lead to stroke. This alone is very upsetting for Julie, but unfortunately this is her only option as the Tumours continue to grow.

The surgery required is to remove the larger tumour but due to the tumour being deep in the base of the skull with blood vessels attached, it’s an extremely difficult one. This is a major operation with a minimum of 7 hours needed to perform this operation which in itself, causes many complications.

Currently, with the way the NHS system is under so much strain and pressure, there is a very long wait, a wait that poor Julie does not really have time for. Julie needs to find a Neuro-surgeon specialist in these types of Tumours, either in the private sector or abroad.

This is why we need help in fundraising. To fund her surgery. Julie is trying to remain strong, and along with her boys and her friends, we are trying to find a surgeon to operate soon so that Julie can get back to normal life with her boys.

It's so upsetting to see my close friend and work wife suffering so much and I just want to do everything I can to help her.
