Today is August the 5th 2016 and I can't think of a better date to launch this. Today is Julie (Budack) Malkowski's 47th birthday. 3 years ago Julie was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. Like a prize fighter, she got up before the countdown and is up and slugging it out.
She has survived 4 surgeries and 15 months of chemotherapy. In 2015, tubes were inserted into her kidneys due to an unspecified blockage that was preventing her body from eliminating toxins. One (thankfully) was removed, but she still has to trek to University of Chicago every 6 weeks to have the remaining one removed and changed.
Just yesterday she pulled up behind me with her son Tucker in the car and rolled down the window with a big smile on her face. I drove away amazed by her strength and thankful that she is still with us.
I know she and her husband Ron would not ask for a dime, but I can't imagine having to fight cancer with mounting medical bills. Not only do they have to keep up with medical and living expenses, but they have one son (Hollis) in college and the other (Tucker) who will be going to college next year.
Most of you who see this know Julie. She is hardworking and always generous. I know she would give her last dime to someone who really needed it. Donating to this fund will help Julie and her family keep up the fight.
Any amount that you can give will be greatly appreciated and anyone who donates will be thanked in a special way at the end of the campaign. But the best thing to take away is knowing you helped Julie kick cancer's butt!
