Thomas & Julie Calhoun Medical Expenses

In May 2018, Julie Calhoun, wife of Thomas Calhoun, was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma.  She went through 2 rounds of chemo and 6 weeks of radiation treatments, but the cancer was still there.  She was very sick during these months, along with being in severe pain.  Someone had to be with her most all the time.  She consulted several different surgeons to try to get them to agree to perform surgery, as her oncologist told her that was her only option.  No doctor would agree to do perform the surgery.  She finally was referred to Dr. Ryder at USA Medical Hospital in Mobile, Alabama.  She had surgery on February 13th to remove the cancerous tumor.  The surgery lasted 13 hours.  During the surgery the doctors realized that the tumor was much larger than anticipated.  Due to the size and location of the tumor, they also had to do a colostomy.  The surgeon said she will be in the hospital in Mobile for 7-21 days and she will follow with physical rehabilitation for 21 days.
