Julie McCormick is a wonderful person who is a wife, mother, teacher, daughter, child of God, and wonderful friend. She has a beautiful family of two daughters and a husband. Julie truly is a friend to all and a shining light in this world.

Julie started noticing some breathing issues last summer while vacationing. Her husband and children urged her to see specialists to figure out the problem. After numerous tests and appointments, she had a lung biopsy on January 11th.  From this biopsy, she was diagnosed with Pulmonary Veno-Occlusive Disease (PVOD). 

PVOD is a rare disease that causes the small veins in the lungs to harden. This disease has no treatment and requires a double lung transplant. Without this very important procedure, Julie's life will be shortened to months not years.

She desperately wants time with her loved ones. She wants to see her daughters graduate from high school and college and to have more years with everyone that she loves.

Julie has been accepted to complete her 5-week rehab stay at Duke to be eligible to be placed on the transplant list. Duke has requested that she set a fundraising goal of $25,000 to help with the medical expenses, financial burdens, etc. Her stay in Durham can be 6 months to a year.
