Julie Trapp’s Recovery

Donation protected
Friends and Family of Julie Trapp, my mom really needs our help. We’ve never been ones to ask for much, but if you could say a prayer for my mom, the worlds greatest grandma, and a beloved friend by many, that would be a great support.

Times are understandably tough right now for so many people, but I’m praying we can raise enough money to help her get the proper care we need not only now, but most importantly in her recovery. God willing.

This is extremely difficult to write, but I want to fill everyone in.

I received a phone call from my aunt Saturday (Nov 13th) morning while at work saying she couldn't get ahold of my mom and her phone was off. I called my mom and her phone rang, so I assume she at the least had her phone. This didn’t raise any immediate alarms, as it’s not abnormal from time to time. She’ll call me back. Than we received word from my wife’s friend later in the night who works with my mom that said she called in sick Friday and didn't show up for work on Saturday so I immediately called the cops for a welfare check knowing something wasn’t right. She was barely alive on the couch, sitting there for two days while nobody knew it. In the process she suffered a severe brain hemorrhage/Stroke and has bleeding on the back of her brain stem from high blood pressure. She also tested positive for Covid the day of admission, and has a clot in her leg that had moved up to her lungs, causing a pulmonary embolism. Unfortunately we can’t see her until she is Covid free and hasn’t run a fever for 24 hours.

This all happened the night before her 49th Birthday.

Her oxygen remains low, but the doctors can’t figure out as to why currently. They don’t believe Covid has affected the lungs much thus far.

We received the MRI results on Monday, which showed the bleed on the brain stem, plus small spots from unnoticed previous bleeds. She’ll likely never have mobility on her one side, and while it’s all speculation on her recovery, she may need a feeding tube and a tracheotomy if she cannot successfully breathe on her own. She’ll likely be in a nursing home with 24/hour assistance, at least for a good duration of time. The portion of the brain that controls speech and memory are unaffected, although she may have slight impairment with her speech. So she’ll know who we are, where she is, and what we tell her.. This was when my sister and I made the call to fight.

I had a filter put in her leg at my request, to stop the clot from traveling any further, this is only temporary until they’re safe to administer Blood pressure medicine. The plan going forward is to wait for her oxygen levels to rise, and as long as they think her lungs are in the clear, they will begin to see how she does coming out of sedation. She’s had impulse reactions to pinching, and procedures to clear the lungs, which is a small positive in the beginning stages of a very long recovery.

We’re all praying for the best possible outcome. And if my mom has any ability to fight I know she’ll fight like hell. It was the hardest decision of our lives, but I know my mom would want to see her grandchildren Sapphire and Bode grow up in any capacity. They desperately need her in they’re lives, and we do too.

I’ve been overwhelmed with the love and support my family has received throughout all of this. We’re grateful for all of you. I really am trying to do my best to keep everyone informed, so I appreciate the patience. For now, let’s pray, and we only ask that you do what you can. A little goes a long way.. From our entire family, thank you all.

This is for you Mama.

We love you.
