Help Julie pursue treatment that may improve her vision.

My name is Julie Becker. On February 27, 2024, I signed on to my computer to begin work and realized everything on the screen was blurry. I was scared—what was wrong with my eyes? After many emotional and confusing doctor appointments and with my eyesight getting worse, I finally received a diagnosis—bilateral sequential non-arteritic ischemic optic neuropathy. Sounds awful, doesn't it? I was told this was caused by diabetes, which had not been diagnosed until 2 months before my vision became impaired.

For the next 10 months, as my vision worsened, I was not sure I would ever be able to work again. Fortunately, I work for a very understanding and compassionate company, Oxford Global Resources in Beverly, MA. My employer never pressured me about returning to work; they were only concerned about my health.

Also fortunately, I began receiving help from Vision Corps in Lancaster, PA, a leading non-profit organization on a mission to empower individuals who are blind or vision impaired to attain independence. Vision Corps worked with me to find the tools that I would need to return to work, and in December 2024, I began working again 4 hours/day. I am now working 6 hours/day, with the goal of returning to work full-time.

One of the most difficult challenges of my vision impairment has been the inability to drive. I have lost my independence and must now rely on others much more than I am used to doing. Thankfully, I have a wonderful support system of family and friends who are always willing to assist me and take me wherever I need to go. From rides back and forth to the gym, helping me run errands, taking me to Bible studies and other church activities, these caring friends have got me covered!

I have adapted to my vision impairment and accepted the fact that it might not get better. However, recently I learned of a possible treatment that may help to improve my vision. A woman spoke at our church about treatment she received in Berlin, Germany at the Federov Restore Vision Clinic which improved her field of vision. (https://www.restorevisionclinic.com) After consultation with the Federov Clinic and their review of my medical records, they have accepted me as a patient and have given me hope that my vision may be improved with their treatment. This treatment involves traveling to Berlin with my mother and staying for 2 weeks. My appointment is scheduled for October 20-October 31, 2025.

In order to make this trip possible, we are asking for donations that will cover the cost of treatment.
Any donations given will be greatly appreciated.
