Julie Mischel Cancer Benefit

Donation protected
Julie (Dondoneau) Mischel

I’m writing to you on behalf of my sister, Julie (Dondoneau) Mischel, with hopes you’ll be interested in donating items to our silent auction on July 11 at the Elks in Bismarck.  Julie is battling Stage IV rectal cancer and it has taken its toll everywhere but her spirit. All proceeds from the auction and fundraiser will go toward covering Julie’s rising medical expenses and travel costs. I’m part of a committee of 15 friends and family members who want to help Julie and her family through
this fight.

Your contribution means a lot and will make a difference.

Julie was diagnosed at Stage IV on March 2, 2017 and has been on medical leave since December from her job as enterprise sales associate for Midco. She recently spent 59 days in the hospital after complications from chemo and radiation forced the removal of 12 inches of her colon, her rectum and lymph nodes. She now has a stoma, and neuropathy limits her mobility and dexterity. Julie has spots on her liver and lungs and she’s currently looking into clinical trials and immune therapy with hopes she can beat this. The clinical trial can only be done in Rochester, so Julie will make the seven-hour trip every two weeks with her husband Chuck, who continues to work.

Through all of this Julie has shined.

She has posted her journey on Facebook and CaringBridge so others will be aware of this cancer and will take steps to protect themselves.
About 70 people have responded by telling her, us, they have gotten their colonoscopy. Nearly half had polyps. On June 9, we will be sharing her story at the Run for Your Buns colorectal awareness race in Grand Forks. It is the first time race officials will be a telling a Cancer patient’s story prior to the start of the race.  We are putting this fundraiser together because Julie is a warrior with immeasurable heart and faith.

She’s long been a part of the Bismarck community as a volunteer member of the Bismarck Chamber Ambassador program, Women’s Leadership Circle and volunteers for Meals on Wheels. She’s also a
longtime member of North Dakota Jaycees and has worked the past 13 years at Midco.

Midco has committed to running 30-second commercials on 24 of its TV and radio networks to promote the event, starting in June. All sponsors who contribute $1,000 or more will have their company logo displayed in the TV ads. All other sponsors will have their names listed on the TV ads, and all will be on display at the benefit and on posters and banners.

Juie has a loving husband, Chuck Mischel, a stepson Casey Mischel and family and friends who love her deeply.

Any donations are greatly appreciated and can be accepted on this site or to the contact information below.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
Dave Dondoneau and Karie Mischel,
